IMMACULATE HEART BULLETIN LAST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

IMMACULATE HEART BULLETIN LAST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Dear Friends of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

In the Gospel of this last Sunday after Pentecost, the last Sunday of her liturgical year, Holy Mother Church places before us Christ’s predictions concerning the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem, and the end of the world. The message is clear. All things in this world are passing. We must look beyond this world towards the next life which lasts forever.

As you know the Northern Ireland Government has announced a new lockdown that involves the forced closures of churches. I have no doubt that this exaggerated decision saddens all of us. Please pray that the Lord has mercy on us and allows us to worship Him publicly as soon as possible. There will be an extra 7 pm Mass on Thursday, 26 November before the lockdown takes effect. Whatever happens, your priests will remain at the service of your souls. During the lockdown Canon de Martin will be available in the church parking lot everyday during the normal confession times. He can also be reached at anytime by telephone.

My visa application is making good progress. Please God, I will be with you again in Belfast in December.

This Friday, 27 November, is the Commemoration of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. After the 7 pm Mass on Thursday, 25 November, Canon de Martin will bless and enrol in the Miraculous Medal those who wish to be enrolled.

This Sunday begins the novena of Masses for the intentions on the November List. It is not too late to add your intentions to the list. To do so, fill in the form beside the Poor Souls shrine at the back of the church. As part of this novena, Fr. Martin Graham will celebrate a Sung Requiem Mass this Wednesday 25th November at 7 pm.

Wishing you a blessed week,

Canon Heppelle
