Dear Friends of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

This Sunday begins the Church’s liturgical year and the season of Advent. Is is a time of preparation for the Christmas. During the four weeks of Advent we commemorate the long centuries of waiting for the Messiah in the Old Testament. This year our sorrow in being deprived of the Mass brings us closer to those times of the Old Testament in which the gates of heaven were closed by sin, and the just could only hope and pray for the coming of the promised Messiah. Let us make our advent a true time of spiritual preparation for Christmas and ask the Good Lord to renew in our souls the gratitude we ought to have for all the blessings He bestows upon us when He comes to us in the Mass and the Sacraments.

Canon De Martin has written a beautiful reflection for the First Sunday of Advent. You will find it below.

Remember that the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary remains open for private prayer everyday. Please see the schedule below. Remember your priests remain available to see to your spiritual needs.

Daily Mass is live-streamed from the Institute’s Sacred Heart Church in Limerick here. Please see the schedule below.

On Monday 30th November we start a Novena of Prayer in preparation for the great Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This is one of the main feasts of our Institute. It was to be the day in which we envisaged celebrations, in Rome, of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of our Community: The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. As you know, however, current restrictions has impeded all such travel and gatherings and so we will celebrate as best we can at home!

To this end, I invite you to make this novena with us, that includes the Novena Prayer to the Immaculate Conception, the Litany to Our Lady and the beautiful Marian Hymn “Tota Pulchra es Maria”. Please see the schedule below.

Wishing you a blessed week,

Canon Heppelle
