Dear Friends of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
On this first Sunday of the year, the Christmas cycle continues with the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. Remember that Christmastide lasts until the Feast of the Purification on 2nd February and we should maintain something of our Christmas joy in the celebration of our Lord’s birth throughout this time. Do not rush to take down your crib and all the lovely decorations!
This Wednesday, 6th January is the feast of the Epiphany and a Holy Day of Obligation in Ireland. Due to the pandemic, the bishops of Ireland have dispensed all the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass. Nevertheless, the Third Commandment of God still obliges. So even if we cannot attend Mass we must still do something to keep holy the Lord’s Day. To make it easier for you to attend Mass on the Epiphany there will be an 8 am Low Mass and a 7 pm High Mass.
The other days this week return to our normal daily schedule with the evening Mass at 7 pm. Please see overleaf for details.
I thank everyone for the cards and Christmas gifts we have received. Your thoughtfulness and generosity is much appreciated. From the 25 December to 2nd January I offered a Novena of Masses for the intentions of all the friends and benefactors of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Wishing you a blessed week and a Happy New Year,
